We are very pleased that The Adelphi, a full refurbishment of the Grade II Listed Art Deco landmark on the north bank of the Thames, completed for Blackstone in 2017, was Highly Commended in the Refurbished / Recycled Workplace category at the 2018 BCO Awards for the London Region yesterday.
The project transforms The Adelphi from, in the words of Blackstone Director Ed Hodgson, 'an historic, heritage building into one of London’s most contemporary workplaces.' The original building plan has been restored by introducing dramatic atria extending down into the building bringing natural light into the deep plan office space on the lower levels. The refurbishment was carried out on a complex phased programme, maintaining access and services to tenants on the upper levels while works we carried out on the lower levels. The redesign of the building's reception and public areas, makes use of the building's Art Deco motifs in the form of large scale artwork reliefs. The building is now fully let to a wide variety of tenants, including Spotify, The Economist Group, Conde Nast International, Blackrock, Petrochina, Finsbury and the ACCA.
