As part of the modernisation of their aluminium plant in southern Turkey, Cengiz Group commissioned us to design a new two-storey office building located on a prominent site at the main access from the surrounding roads.
The brief called for a contemporary design creating efficient office space, new executive meetings rooms, offices, support facilities and a new security gatehouse production site.
Orientation is important, integrating the views towards the neighbouring mountain backdrop, utilising solar gains in a hot summer climate and generating a formal relationship with the main site access routes for vehicles and pedestrians.
The design solution has generated a simple linear plan for maximum efficiency. Executive accommodation is organised at one end, general administrative offices occupying the remaining footprint. The elevations are organised as a two colonnades on the north and south facades. These provide shading but also order the accommodation in terms of massing and expression. The envelope has a simple dark granite treatment to reflect the mountain context and glazing and integrated solar shading are silver to reflect the character of the aluminium ingots produced by the plant.
The office interiors are designed by us to provide calm, well lit spaces organized along a central circulation spine.
