In 2013 the practice was instructed to refurbish and extend the fine 18th century Listed neoclassical Pantechnicon in Motcomb Street, Belgravia. The majority of the building will be made publicly accessible with the provision of retail accommodation on the ground, mezzanine and first floors. A3 use will now be possible in the existing basement with the opening up of pavement lights to provide natural daylight to the space.
A new rooftop extension and terrace will provide views to the south east and west, whilst maintaining resident’s privacy and a sensitive restoration of key elements of the facade such as the cast iron railings will return the building’s former grandeur and pre-eminence in the street. Planning approval for the Pantechnicon was granted in June 2014.
